It’s officially March and that means gardeners are catching spring fever all over Kansas City. If you haven’t signed up for your membership, please come visit our Swope Park location (6917 Kensington Ave / KCMO 64132) between 9am-4pm M,Wed-Fri and 9am-6:30pm on Tuesdays or apply online here.
Here are some important dates to keep in mind as you get your garden started:
March 5th
Seed potatoes and onions sets go on sale. KCCG Members can place orders online for seed potatoes, onion sets, and other seeds and schedule a pick-up with this online order form.
Payment is due at pick up. Seed pack limits are 30 total, seed potatoes limit is 25 lbs, and onion sets limits are 10 lbs.
PLEASE NOTE – Due to a nationwide shipping delay, several of our seeds are on backorder. The varieties we have in stock are listed on the online order form.
March 9th
Last day to order fruit trees. Currently, only pears and jujubes are in stock. Click here to place your order.
March 19th
Onion and leek plants go on sale. These will also be included on the online seed order form for members to schedule a date and time to pick up. Payment is due at pick up.
March 25th (Green Cards) March 26th (All Cards)
Cool season plants go on sale. Plants include asparagus, berries, broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, collards, kale and lettuce.
Members can also order cool season plants online for pick-up on March 29th. Visit our cool season plant page on March 29th to access the online order form.
To maintain social distancing guidelines, we will be serving members in a car-hop style on March 25th and 26th where you will not need to leave your car. Simply wait in line and let KCCG staff direct you into the parking lot where we’ll process your order.
March 25th
Sweet Potato orders open. Reservations can be made in person at KCCG, online, or by calling 816-931-3877. Payment is due at the time of pickup.
March 29th
Jersey Creek Satellite Plant and Seed Sale will be held from 5pm-6pm. For those that live in KCK and can’t make it into our Swope Park office, we’ll be bringing our cool season plants and seeds to the Jersey Creek Community Garden (11th St & Parallel PKWY, Kansas City, KS 66104 – Heathwood Park) to sell seeds, plants, and sign up members for 2021.
