Even though the Beanstalk Garden is referred to as a “children’s” garden, anybody can come take a tour. This week, we had some special guests from The Groves retirement community take a tour of the garden.
We also had a group of kindergartners scheduled to take a tour at the same time.
Despite the difference in age, both groups thoroughly enjoyed their tours!
Several seniors needed assistance from wheel chairs or walkers but they didn’t have any issues maneuvering the garden. There were plenty of places to rest in the shade or under the gazebo.
Both groups shared the front porch for a picnic and a few seniors mentioned how they loved seeing the kids take interest in the garden and listening to the kids chat and sing over lunch.
After the tours ended, everyone in both groups left with a baby basil transplant to take home.
It was a treat to see how the garden is magical for people of all ages – children, and children at heart!
