Prospect Community Garden Spring Work Day!!

Kansas City Community Gardens will be hosting a volunteer work day to expand the Prospect Community Garden at 5008 Prospect (Blue Hills Community Services) on Saturday, March 4, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm.

We will be building raised beds and filling them with soil, constructing a shed and doing general clean-up and small projects around the garden to get ready for spring planting. Tools, wheelbarrows and shovels will be provided.  Please bring work gloves if you would like them. This is a family-friendly volunteer project and snacks and water will be provided.  If you have questions, email Andrea at andrea@kccg.org or call 816-931-3877.

Garden entrance is on Wabash (one block west of Prospect). Please park on the street; the parking lot will not be available.

Prospect Community Garden Workshops
A special series of workshops will be held at Blue Hills Community Services for Prospect Community Gardens and residents of the surrounding neighborhoods.  Reserve your seat!  Visit www.kccg.org/workshops or call 816-931-3877 to let us know that you are coming! 
 
March 16 @ 6:00pm – Raised Bed Gardening:
Discover the many benefits of raised bed gardening.  Learn which crops grow best in raised beds and how to plant them for maximum efficiency.
 
Workshop will be inside Blue Hills Community Services, 5008 Prospect. We will also be signing people up for KCCG memberships and rental plots at this workshop.
 
June 15 @ 6:00pm- Fruit Tree and Small Fruit Maintenance:  
Learn how to maintain your fruit plants including pruning, thinning and pest management.  We will discuss peaches, apples, pears, Asian pears, bush cherries, raspberries and blackberries. 
 
This workshop will take place in the Prospect Garden on the west side of Blue Hills Community Services.  Please park on Wabash. 
 
September 28 @ 6:00pm - Cooking with Summer’s Harvest:  
Learn how to prepare the beautiful, fresh fruits and vegetables that you have harvested from your garden. Don’t know what to do with Swiss chard? Have zucchini coming out of your ears? No problem. Come sample some creative and healthy recipes featuring fruits and vegetables harvested from the garden. Bring your appetite! 
 
We will also be harvesting fruit from the Prospect Community Garden’s Orchard. This workshop will take place in the Prospect Garden on the west side of Blue Hills Community Services.  Please park on Wabash.
