As the snow falls and we enjoy the winter season, maybe you’re wondering if there is anything left on your garden to do list?
Why yes, there are 2 things to do!
- Fill out and submit your annual Schoolyard Gardens enrollment form. Updating your enrollment form supports the Schoolyard Gardens mission to continue to offer low cost seeds and plant to 220 schools in the Kansas City and surrounding areas.
Please contact your Schoolyard Gardens assistant if you have not received an enrollment form via email.
- Save the date for our Schoolyard Gardens workshops! Members that are new to the program are required to attend one Schoolyard Gardens workshop. Workshops are free, and are approved for Kansas and Missouri Continuing Education Credit!
Planning and Planting Workshop: February 22nd 9:30-12:00–Schoolyard Gardens coordinators will go over program details and best gardening practices to assure schools are gardening successfully. During the second half of the workshop teachers will learn how to plan out the garden and order the appropriate amount of seeds and plants?
Digging Deeper Workshop: March 7th 9:00-12:00 – Full of information for the teacher that feels confident in the garden and wants to learn how to incorporate community, curriculum and cafeteria into the garden.
Your school’s garden coordinator will soon receive an email to register for February workshops.
Before we know it the time to plant will be here, make sure to enjoy the slow pace of January!
